Since 1974, Tom Brooks has immersed himself into a world of visual art making. Raised in the Bay Area of California, Tom’s visual journey will take you to moments of classical realism, his personal interpretation of spirituality, protest, and at times, inner struggle.

After years of classically painting and sketching the landscapes and people around him, Tom has also taken intense trips of randomness and poignant mark making on loose canvas, fueled by his experimentation of movement, materials, and thought.

The work of Tom Brooks continually shows a reference to the landscape that he once gazed upon as a young man, staring out his bedroom window or his car’s windshield, bringing peace to his curious mind. Today, his paintings are processes of re-working and layering of oil, acrylic, and watercolor, bringing similar moments of wonder and contemplation as he stares out a new window, his canvas, his evolving window of exploration.
